JPI Climate

Was ist JPI Climate?

Coordination of national and European research efforts

Joint Programming Initiatives (JPI) coordinate national research areas and launch joint calls providing the opportunity to cooperate at a European level.

These initiatives address key societal challenges such as climate change, energy and food security, and healthy aging, which cannot be solved at the national level alone. They are designed to pool the limited resources for research and developmentand leverage complementary expertise

Funding
for the Joint Programming Initiatives largely comes from the participating Member States. The European Commission supports the establishment of organisational structures for individual initiatives in the form of Coordination and Support Actions (CSA).

The 10 Joint Programming Initiatives

The Member States are free to participate in any of the Joint Programming Initiatives tofind a joint solution to a problem or achieve a joint goal.

JPI Climate

The Joint Programming Initiative "Connecting Climate Knowledge for Europe" (JPI Climate) is a pan-European intergovernmental initiative gathering European countries to jointly coordinate climate research and fund new transnational research initiatives that provide useful climate knowledge and services for post-COP21 Climate Action.

JPI Climate connects scientific disciplines, enables cross-border research and increases the science-practice interaction. JPI Climate contributes to the overall objective of developing a European Research Area and to underpin the European efforts in tackling the societal challenge of climate change.
